First Light on Towers of the Virgin, Zion National Park
Basin Mountain Eastern Sierra

On this early Fall morning, Basin Mountain was bathed with random golden light.

Taken on 10/4/2010
I set up my camera waiting for Old Faithful to put on the last afternoon show before the sunset.

As Old Faithful started to errupt, the light found a gap to side light the geyser. I stood in awe as the geyser grew in intensity and height.
First Light North Lake

This was an Epic Sunrise at North Lake October 3. 2010.

First Light in Cooks Meadow side lights the famous Elm Tree.

This is the last remaining Elm Tree in Cooks Meadow. These tree's were brought here in the late 1800's.

James Mason Hutchings planted several orchards in Yosemite mostly containing apple trees but some cherry trees can be found. Hutchings also planted a row of American elms along the route of the present road that crosses the meadow north of the present Sentinel Bridge.
These were grown from seed supplied by Rev. Joseph Worcester of Waltham, Massachusetts.

Last Light On Half Dome from Olmstead Point.
I went by Weir Pond several times during my 8 day stay in the Easter Sierra, hoping for snow and soft light. The mountains were dusted from the prior days storm while another storm was brewing.

This image was made on Thursday October 6, in the late afternoon. There was only one other photographer. He was using a large format camera shooting from the road and looking across the pond... With Soft light and fresh snow, I was able to capture this peaceful scene...
