I came across this Buck early in the morning as he was following a doe and her young. The rutt was on and this Buck was no exeption, he did not let the Doe out of his site.
Winter Scene Yosemite National Park

Light snow fell in Yosemite Valley the prior two nights. It has been over a month since the last snow storm so I was looking forward to getting back up to the mountains.

I drove up early Saturday morning pre-visualizing a winter scene. I drove around the valley surveying the meadows looking for the right composition. There were a lot of bare spots throughout the park which made my goal more challenging.

The soft morning light back-lit these trees against Cathedral Rock which made for a nice capture.

Half Dome from Sentinel Bridge after a prevoius night snow storm.

Fresh snow in Yosemite Valley usually melts soon after it falls so I try to work the valley for it's many compositions...

Here is a typical image from a famous location...Sentinel bridge is a great place to get Half Dome and potential reflections in the Merced River.

It was hard to pass this up as the afternoon light enhances the scene with fresh snow...
Emerald Bay approaching Snow Flurry

It was calm when I arrived at one of the pull-outs above Emerald Bay... the cold wind picked and it started to snow signaling this approaching cloud mass. I eventually had to get back into the car as it grew closer. This was a snow flurry passing through Emerald Bay, The clouds here are full of energy, texture and life. I hoped to captured the essence of the moment in Emerald Bay. The snow storm lasted about 20 minutes, it was awesome...

Chapel and Snow in Yosemite

An overnight snow storm left over 8 inches of fresh snow. I was able to highlight the snow by using a flash.
