Side Lit Pine Trees in the Painted Dunes with Mount Lassen in the distance.
The trail head starts at the Butte Lake parking area. after about 1.2 miles you arrive at the base of Cinder
Cone, I went past the trail up to the top of the cone and worked my way to the Painted Dunes which is around
the base of the cone.
Sun beams worked through the clouds spot lighting different areas to create interest and contrast. I watched
the light play off of the landscape, waiting for the right moment to click the shutter. Side lit Pine Trees
grow out of some random volcanic rock fragments in the Painted Dunes in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
The trail Head is approxamtly 24 miles from the northern national park entrance. Mount Lassen is 11 miles away from the Cinder Cone.
